Applied Behavior Analysis - Excellence in Professionalism - Nonaversive Methods
The Association of Animal Behavior Professionals (AABP) was founded to promote excellence in professionalism and a strong commitment to nonaversive methods among behavior analytic oriented technologists of companion animal behavior. The AABP seeks to establish a community of members aspiring to and sustaining these principles and provide the public a directory of professionals dedicated to them.
AABP Members are strongly dedicated to these three pillar principles (click here for elaboration):
- Dedication to the highly efficient and effective technology of behavior, based on the natural science of behavior analysis, as opposed to ethological or medical-model orientations
- Standards of excellence in professionalism
- Dedication to nonaversive methods out of respect for the rights and dignity of the learner no matter what species they are

The AABP is a voluntary niche professional association, specifically for those who are qualified and strongly dedicated to treating people and companion animals noncoercively. The AABP is supportive and cooperative with other, primary, certifying bodies and professional associations rather than competitive with them.
